You Are Superheroes!

Have you ever felt alone in this world even though you have lots of friends? Have you ever felt you can’t do anything even though you have tried so hard until you bled and struggled? Have you ever felt that you lost lot of things in your life? Have you ever felt that your life is not as lucky as someone else’s? Have you ever felt giving up with everything in your life including your dreams?
Have you ever felt all of these happen to you at the same time? Then how do you deal with all of these?
Let me bring you to someone’s story. He is someone who live in big city, alone. Actually not alone, he has lot of family in that city, he has lot of friends too. He’s from peaceful small town. His main family live in that hometown, including his parents. If we ask him what’s his level of happiness? (from 1 to 10), he will answer “it has increased to 2”.
He’s a cheerful man, that’s what his friends say about him. No one will believe that he has problems, because everyday he looks fine, smile and cheerful. So if you’re one of his friends and know that his level of happiness is only 2, do you believe it? would you be surprised to hear that?
Why did he only reach that level?
It all started from 2014, his family was having financial difficulties, his salary at that time was not enough to help. He saw so many letters from bank, he knew that his parents had lot of loans from bank. Then they decide to sell one of house, car and two motorcycles including his favorite one. They know that after they do it, that’s still not enough, they still have several loans, but at least the burden is less. Then at the end of 2014, they found out another problem, they found out that his elder sister had lungs cancer. That’s because of the spread of the cancer that she ever fought two years before. Since his sister sick, he need to take care of and took so many leave. That because only he’s the one who capable of with medical things. At that time he live in out of town that need 1,5 hours from his hometown. So during that time, he often went to hometown for his sister. Not just that, he also need to think about his sister’s medical expenses. At the same time, he has a new job, that’s why he need to learn new thing too, he tried to focus all of these.
In the end of January 2015, his sister passed away. He and his family was grieving at that time, he lost someone who love so much, his sister. He and his family need a long time to get back up. He never forget about his sister. He still mourning. One week after his sister passed away, he broke up with his girlfriend. That year was nightmare for him, he lost everything. He hurts a lots. He must continue his struggle. because his family’s life depends on it. Since college, he was the backbone of his family. His life after 2015 become really bad, to get back up it’s not easy, with all of these, his had bad lifestyle like alcohol, cigarettes, less sleep, no exercise, bad foods, he had all of these everyday.
In 2017, he found out that his gastritis become dangerous, he found out that he have HNP also he found out that he have high potential for DM. Again, these were not easy for him. How he can handle all of these? Why he got all of these? Why these happen to him? He still young when he found out all of these, he still 24 years old. Too young for all of these. How he can handle all of these? He need to take care of his family, plus his self. “It’s not fair!” he said. He felt alone, weak and depressed.
In 2018, he found out that his parents are getting older and weaker. End of 2018, his father was hospitalised. His father had complicated disease. He tried very hard to be strong. He often leave his big city to hometown because of this. He still remembers when he tried hard to hide his sadness during a video call with his father. At that time he was in Bangkok. He cried very loudly and fell on the hotel balcony. At the next day, he flight back to the hometown, to take care of his father. He realised that only he’s the one who capable of. Like when he take care of his sister, only him that can deal with medical things.
In early 2019, God saved his father. The surgery went well and his father’s illness was removed. “Thanks God”. Then he found another problem, he have to deal with a huge hospital fee. More than hundred million. Short story, he able to pay it, but then started from that day, he has more debts which need to deal with. He have nothing left in his savings. Not just that, he still has many obligations such as taking care of his family, especially his father who after surgery requires a lot of attention. Plus, he must still had to deal with a lot of work that drained his brain and energy. Sometime he felt like he need to stop working, but he can’t do that, he need money for his family and all of debts. Sometime he felt alone even though he have so many friends. Sometime he felt so tired and just want to get out of these things.
How he handle all of these? Actually, he still trying to handle it. He never stop. He realised that he’s not alone, he had God who always help him. There is always a way. Like these verse.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
“Surely Allah will not change the destiny of a nation until they change themselves.” (QS. Al-Baqarah: 286)
Everyone has own problems, I know it must be very painful. But, knowing that it’s not just us who struggling with our own problems, it makes us feel that we are not alone, we can definitely get through this. believe me, we can do it!
